Fermented Plant‐Based Milks: A Review of Physicochemical and Technological Aspects to Sensory and Probiotic Attributes

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 314-334, June 2026.
Technological and biotechnological processes, including fermentation with selected starter cultures, convert diverse plant raw materials into fermented plant‐based milks. These processes enhance nutritional profiles, functional and probiotic compounds, and improve physicochemical and sensory properties, supported by predictive modeling to optimize ...

Generalist With a Narrow Niche Breadth: Feeding Ecology and Seed Germination Effectiveness of a Large Canid Within a Silvicultural Matrix

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 51, Issue 6, June 2026.
Diet: The generalist canid exhibits a narrow niche breadth (0.12), consuming native plants (100% frequency) and animals (85%). Birds dominate animal prey (74%), peaking in the dry season, while Solanaceae plants dominate plant food (100%), peaking in the rainy season.

Plantas - atividade 2: De que a semente precisa para germinar?

open access: yes, 2014
Guia de experimentos que permite observar que somente os componentes da semente não conseguem garantir sua germinação, também é preciso das condições ambientais para que esta ocorra.

Barley seed quality under harvest management practices

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 66, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) has a strategic role in global agriculture due to its use in food, feed, and brewing industries and its adaptability to diverse environments. This study evaluated the effect of harvest timing on seed quality in two commercial cultivars (ABI Rubi and ABI Valente), focusing on physical integrity, physiological ...

Landscape features predict broad‐scale seed rain patterns across fragments of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 5, May 2026.
Along with precipitation, forest cover emerges as a fundamental driver of alpha and beta diversity in the seed rain. This highlights the role of habitat amount at the landscape level over patch‐level features, like patch size, for seed dispersal. However, increased seed density can be related to higher dispersal rates in forest borders.

Comparison between THE oven and THE Karl Fischer methodS for THE determination of the moisture content of maize (Zea mays L.) and soya (Glycine max (L) Merrill) seeds

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 1996
The objective of the present paper was to compare the seed water content of maize and soya, obtained by the oven method at different temperatures and the Karl Fischer method. The water contents used were 11.2 %, 12.8 % and 16.2 % for maize and 10.7 %, 12.
