A semi‐analytical curved element for linear elasticity based on the scaled boundary finite element method

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2016
SummaryThis work introduces a semi‐analytical formulation for the simulation and modeling of curved structures based on the scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM). This approach adapts the fundamental idea of the SBFEM concept to scale a boundary to describe a geometry.

A semi-analytical finite element method for three-dimensional consolidation analysis

Computers and Geotechnics, 2001
Abstract An efficient formulation, based on a semi-analytical finite element method, is described for elasto-plastic analyses of consolidation of an axi-symmetric soil body subjected to three-dimensional loading. Expressing the field quantities in the form of discrete Fourier series results in a set of modal equations that can be solved separately ...

Semi-analytical finite element method for modeling of lamb wave propagation

CEAS Aeronautical Journal, 2013
Lamb wave propagation in plates is multi-modal, dispersive and highly dependent on the material properties. In homogeneous isotropic plates, Lamb modes can be grouped into symmetric and anti-symmetric modes, and they are decoupled from the shear modes.

IMPLEMENTATION OF STRENGTH CALCULATION SOFTWARE BASED ON THE SEMI-ANALYTICAL METHOD OF FINITE ELEMENTS

Building constructions. Theory and Practice, 2022

Calculation of Cylindrical Corrugated Shells Using a Semi-Analytic Finite Element Method

Materials Science Forum, 2018
The method of calculating the shells of revolution for an asymmetric load using a semi-analytic finite element method is considered. An example is given of calculating a corrugated cylindrical tank for wind load. Comparison of meridional and annular forces is performed for a smooth and corrugated shell of identical dimensions.

On semi‐analytical probabilistic finite element method for homogenization of the periodic fiber‐reinforced composites

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2011
AbstractThe main aim of this paper is a development of the semi‐analytical probabilistic version of the finite element method (FEM) related to the homogenization problem. This approach is based on the global version of the response function method and symbolic integral calculation of basic probabilistic moments of the homogenized tensor and is applied ...

Simulation of Lamb wave reflections at plate edges using the semi-analytical finite element method

Ultrasonics, 2012
In typical Lamb wave simulation practices, effects of plate edge reflections are often not considered in order to simplify the wave signal interpretations. Methods that are based on infinite plates such as the semi-analytical finite element method is effective in simulating Lamb waves as it excludes the effect of plate edges.

Analysis of Asphalt Pavement Structural Response Using Semi-Analytical Finite Element Method with Infinite Elements

Airfield and Highway Pavements 2015, 2015
A computational program SAFEM was developed based on semi-analytical finite element (FE) method to analyze asphalt pavement structural responses. It is a three-dimensional FE program that requires only a two-dimensional mesh by incorporating the semi-analytical method using Fourier series in the third dimension. The parallel computing technology can be

A Semi-Analytical Finite Element Method for Three-Dimensional Contact Problems with Axisymmetric Geometry

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Mechanical Engineering Science, 1986
A combination of conventional two-dimensional finite elements and a Fourier series expansion in the tangential direction is shown to be efficient for modelling an elastic three-dimensional frictionless contact problem of geometrically axisymmetric bodies under non-axisymmetric external loads.
