Axial force calculation of passive magnetic bearing [PDF]

open access: yesSerbian Journal of Electrical Engineering, 2014
Axial magnetic force calculation between two ring permanent magnets is presented in the paper. One magnet is magnetized in radial direction while the other one is magnetized in axial direction.

Linear multistep methods for optimal control problems and applications to hyperbolic relaxation systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We are interested in high-order linear multistep schemes for time discretization of adjoint equations arising within optimal control problems. First we consider optimal control problems for ordinary differential equations and show loss of accuracy for ...

3D‐Printed Serial Snap‐Through Architectures for Programmable Mechanical Response

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A serial snap‐through architecture is realized using compact 3D‐printed von Mises truss units arranged in a staged cascade. Their geometry and boundary conditions program multistage mechanical responses with plateaux and re‐hardening regimes. An inverted‐compliance model predicts these behaviors and enables analytical design of programmable force ...

Enhancing CoFe Catalysts with V2CTX MXene‐Derived Materials for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...

Analysis of a HMM time-discretization scheme for a system of Stochastic PDE's [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the discretization in time of a system of parabolic stochastic partial differential equations with slow and fast components; the fast equation is driven by an additive space-time white noise.

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Solving semi-discrete optimal transport problems: star shapedeness and Newton’s method

open access: yesNumerical Algorithms
In this work, we propose a novel implementation of Newton's method for solving semi-discrete optimal transport (OT) problems for cost functions which are a positive combination of $p$-norms ...

Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.
