Gyrostat Motion in the Light Flow of Semi-Euclidean Space

open access: yesВестник Пермского университета. Математика. Механика. Информатика
The motion of a gyrostat in a stationary field of light pressure forces in semi-Euclidean space is investigated. A gyrostat with kinetic axial symmetry and a constant gyrostatic moment moves so that its carrier rotates around the center of inertia. The field of light pressure forces is generated by a stationary light flux of constant intensity, formed ...

A walk in the park—Identifying healthy greenspaces using scents

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
As urbanisation accelerates globally, access to nature is increasingly recognised as vital for public health and wellbeing. We captured and analysed plant‐emitted airborne ‘scent signatures’ across Oxford's urban greenspaces to assess their potential health relevance.

Management and incipient domestication of Chamaedorea tepejilote in agroforestry systems in Mexico

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Native wild plants are key elements in addressing global biodiversity loss and supporting sustainable food systems. We investigated how rural communities in Mexico manage Chamaedorea tepejilote, a wild palm with edible male inflorescences, by combining ethnobotanical, genetic, morphological and ecological approaches.

Semi-insulating GaAs grown in outer space

open access: yes, 2000
A semi-insulating GaAs single crystal ingot was grown in a recoverable satellite, within a specially designed pyrolytic boron nitride crucible, in a power-traveling furnace under microgravity.

Initial State Privacy of Nonlinear Systems on Riemannian Manifolds

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we investigate initial state privacy protection for discrete‐time nonlinear closed systems. By capturing Riemannian geometric structures inherent in such privacy challenges, we refine the concept of differential privacy through the introduction of an initial state adjacency set based on Riemannian distances.

Virtual Elastic Tether: A New Approach for Multi‐Agent Navigation in Confined Aquatic Environments

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Underwater navigation is a challenging area in the field of mobile robotics due to inherent constraints in self‐localization and communication in underwater environments. Some of these challenges can be mitigated by using collaborative multi‐agent teams.

Control System for the Navigation of the Agricultural Robots: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Control systems for the navigation of autonomous agricultural robots—particularly those operating in uneven terrain and in the presence of static or dynamic obstacles—have advanced considerably in recent years. As conventional machinery evolves toward increasingly automated systems, the design of reliable navigation controllers has become ...

Scale dependence in remotely sensed biodiversity: Leveraging continental‐scale imaging spectroscopy from the National Ecological Observatory Network

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Imaging spectroscopy enables large‐scale biodiversity assessment, yet spectral diversity metrics are scale dependent. Across 15 NEON ecosystems, we find that spectral richness increases sub‐linearly from 3600 m2 to 4 km2, whereas spectral divergence shows weak or inconsistent scaling with area, underscoring the importance of scale‐aware interpretation ...

SEMI-PARALLEL TENSOR PRODUCT SURFACES IN SEMI-EUCLIDEAN SPACE E4

open access: yes, 2016
In this article, the tensor product surfaces are studied that arisefrom taking the tensor product of a unit circle centered at the origin in Euclidean plane E2and a non-null, unit planar curve in Lorentzian plane E1.
