Critical appraisal on pavement performance of early-strength irrigated semi-flexible pavement

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
Early-strength irrigated semi-flexible pavement (EISFP) is a new type of composition pavement with the characteristics of both asphalt pavement and cement concrete pavement. It has the advantages of high strength in the beginning and fast strength growth.

Utilization of Waste Rubber Powder in Semi-Flexible Pavement

Key Engineering Materials, 2014
The central concept of semi-flexible pavement (SFP) is to combine the best qualities of concrete and asphalt pavement by means of filling the voids of the large gap asphalt mixture (LGAM) with good fluidity grout. The major purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of utilizing waste rubber powder in the grout so as to reduce the stiffness ...

Formulation and performance comparison of grouting materials for semi-flexible pavement

Construction and Building Materials, 2016
Abstract Semi-flexible pavement has been widely used for good performance, however, few studies have been made on effects of composition and formulation on grouting material. Therefore, this paper focuses on effects of composition and formulation on two typical grouting materials, including cement paste and cement mortar.

A state of the art of semi-flexible pavements: Introduction, design, and performance

Construction and Building Materials, 2020
Abstract Semi-flexible pavement (SFP) is a new pavement technology consisting of open-graded asphalt concrete with a high air void content filled by injecting special grouting materials. The SFP is constructed without expansion, contraction, and construction joints and also demonstrates prominent rutting and shoving/corrugation resistances. These new

Semi-Flexible Base's Material Properties and Pavement Structure Applicability

ICTE 2011, 2011
For the special nature of semi-flexible base's road performance, this paper studies the Marshall stability, splitting strength and compressive strength tests of the semi-flexible mixture. First, several steps which should be taken to achieve the optimal mix proportion are presented as below: optimal gradation, optimal fluid content, optimal asphalt ...

Influences of matrix asphalt on performance of irrigated semi-flexible pavement

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
In order to find out the suitable asphalt types and corresponding voidage of the Irrigated semi-flexible pavement(ISFP), SBS modified asphalt and 70# road petroleum asphalt were used to form the matrix asphalt mixture with voidage of 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%.

Development of a sustainable semi-flexible pavement composite containing recycled asphalt pavement

The purpose of this research is to investigate the feasibility of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) material in developing sustainable Semi-Flexible Pavement (SFP) composite material. While a lot of effort has been made in the last several years to explore the potential of RAP in bituminous and cement concrete pavement, such an attempt has not been made ...

Effect of cementitious grouts on the properties of semi-flexible bituminous pavements

Performance of Bituminous and Hydraulic Materials in Pavements, 2017
Semi-flexible pavements are manufactured by producing a very open porous asphalt skeleton and filling the voids with selected cementitious grouts. The resultant composites, referred to as "grouted macadams", combine the flexibility of the bituminous component with the strength and rigidity of the cementitious component.
