Locked down: Ontological security and the experience of COVID‐19 while living in poor‐quality housing

open access: yesJournal of Community Psychology, Volume 51, Issue 6, Page 2509-2529, August 2023., 2023
Abstract The aim of the paper is to illustrate how the housing system in the United Kingdom (UK) has contributed to creating vulnerabilities during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Drawing on the concept of ontological security we look at how living with housing insecurity whilst enduring poor housing conditions has impacted the lives of those living in ...

A novel secure data outsourcing scheme based on data hiding and secret sharing for relational databases

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 17, Issue 7, Page 775-789, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Data encryption‐based and secret sharing‐based data outsourcing schemes protect the confidentiality of sensitive attributes but not their secrecy. Ciphertexts/shares generated by a data encryption/secret sharing scheme can attract the attention of interceptors. Thus, it is desired to hide the existence of highly‐sensitive attributes (as secret

Maximize the Security for Image Processing Using an Improved Watermarking Approach

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Creating a dependable and effective digital image watermarking (WM) method necessitates balancing imperceptibility, resilience, capacity, and security. Several studies have combined spatial and transform domains to meet these needs. We investigated the current state of hybrid digital image WM.

Image fragile watermarking algorithm based on deneighbourhood mapping

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 16, Issue 10, Page 2652-2664, 21 August 2022., 2022
Abstract To address the security risk caused by fixed offset mapping and the limited recoverability of random mapping used in image watermarking, a self‐embedding fragile image watermarking algorithm based on deneighbourhood mapping are proposed. First, the image is divided into several 2 × 2 blocks, and authentication watermark and recovery watermark ...

Statistical Assessment of Discrimination Capabilities of a Fractional Calculus Based Image Watermarking System for Gaussian Watermarks

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
In this paper, we explore the advantages of a fractional calculus based watermarking system for detecting Gaussian watermarks. To reach this goal, we selected a typical watermarking scheme and replaced the detection equation set by another set of ...

Blackman–Tukey spectral estimation and electric network frequency matching from power mains and speech recordings

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, Volume 15, Issue 6, Page 396-409, August 2021., 2021
Abstract Forensic applications exploit electric network frequency (ENF) as a fingerprint to determine multimedia content authenticity, as well as the time and region of multimedia recording. ENF is present at a nominal frequency of 50/60 Hz and its harmonics. Strong interference due to speech content deteriorates ENF estimation accuracy.
