Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

ON ORTHOGONALITY RELATION DETERMINED BY A GENERALIZED SEMI-INNER PRODUCT

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 1994
The author is dealing with structures \(\langle V,W; \coprod \rangle\), where \(V\) and \(W\) are vector spaces over a skew-field \(K\). It is assumed that the relation \(\coprod \subset V \times W\) satisfies some very weak axioms which are usually satisfied by the orthogonality relations and the author proves that then the relation \(\coprod\) is ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

On positive vectors in indefinite inner product spaces

open access: yesBulletin of Mathematical Sciences
Let [Formula: see text] be a linear space equipped with an indefinite inner product [Formula: see text]. Denote by [Formula: see text] the nonlinear set of positive vectors in [Formula: see text]. We demonstrate that the properties of a linear operator W

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Hermite-Hadamard's Inequality and the p-HH-Norm on the Cartesian Product of Two Copies of a Normed Space

open access: yes, 2008
The Cartesian product of two copies of a normed space is naturally equipped with the well-known p-norm. In this paper, another notion of norm is introduced, and will be called the p-HH-norm. This norm is an extension of the generalised logarithmic mean

Sharp Inequalities of Ostrowski Type for Convex Functions Defined on Linear Spaces and Application

open access: yes, 2007
An Ostrowski type inequality for convex functions defined on linear spaces is generalised. Some inequalities which improve the Hermite–Hadamard type inequality for convex functions defined on linear spaces are derived using the obtained result.

Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.
