Extensometer for semi-rigid materials
Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1960A differential capacitance extensometer is described which is capable of measuring extensions between 1 and 50% on an unstrained gauge length of one inch. With this instrument, complete tensile stress-strain curves to the point of rupture of the test piece may be obtained on semi-rigid materials.

Ureteroscopy is the passage of a ureteroscope into the ureter. This can be either diagnostic or therapeutic. The diagnostic indications include obstruction of the ureter, intra-luminal lesions, hematuria, abnormal cytology, suspected neoplasm, and surveillance.

Semi-rigid system for immersed tunnel
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings, 2022The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge has a total length of 55 km. One of the greatest technical challenges is an immersed tunnel section stretching over 5.664 km and consisting of 33 prefabricated units (tunnel elements). The tunnel is buried 22 m below the seabed, and is therefore subjected to a significant overburden pressure (at a level of ∼100 kPa ...

Collective orientation dynamics in semi-rigid polymers
Colloid & Polymer Science, 2004The orientational relaxation function in non-dilute isotropic solutions of semi-rigid polymers with different ladder-type oligophenylene monomer structures is recorded by time domain depolarized light scattering. The shape and the peculiar dependence of this function on the scattering angle arise from the coupling between orientational and shear ...

Numerical Modelling of Semi-Rigid Boltless Connectors
Civil-Comp Proceedings, 2001Abstract The paper describes a finite element analysis of a boltless semi-rigid beam-end connector used in the storage rack industry. An elastic three-dimensional linear analysis of the connector was made and the results compared with experiments. The effects of different boundary conditions were investigated. Sub-models of the part of the upright in

Semi-rigid composite construction
Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 1990Abstract The strength, ductility and stiffness of ordinary steel frames can be significantly improved by composite action. This can be achieved by providing a few continuous reinforcing bars across the column lines and ensuring full composite action through the use of suffcient shear studs.

6DOF semi-rigid SLAM for mobile scanning
2012 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2012The terrestrial acquisition of 3D point clouds by laser range finders has recently moved to mobile platforms. Measuring the environment while simultaneously moving the vehicle demands a high level of accuracy from positioning systems such as the IMU, GPS and odometry. We present a novel semi-rigid SLAM algorithm that corrects the global position of the

Composite Semi-Rigid Construction
Engineering Journal, 1994Over the past twenty years several hundred articles on analysis and behavior of semi-rigid steel frames have appeared in the technical literature.1 This body of knowledge indicates that semi-rigid or partially restrained (PR) frames possess many economical, constructional, and technical advantages over rigid frames and frame-shear wall systems. However,

Classification of Carnot Algebras: the Semi-Rigid Cases
Journal of Dynamical and Control Systems, 2006A Carnot algebra is a graded nilpotent Lie algebra \(L = L_1\oplus \cdots\oplus L_r\) generated by \(L_1\). Algebras of such type appear naturally in local nilpotent approximations of bracket generating vector distributions. The bidimension of the Carnot algebra \(L\) is the pair \((\dim L_1, \dim L)\).

Semi-rigid Composite Steel Frames
Engineering Journal, 1987Semi-rigid, composite steel frames are a new type of structural system being developed to better utilize the composite floor slabs and flexible connections present in common AISC Type 2 frames. This new structural system extends the beneficial aspects of composite action to the negative moment region of continuous beams by providing slab reinforcement ...
