Nonlinear static analysis of steel frames with semi rigid beam to column connections using cruciform element [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering, 2017
In the steel frames, beam-column connections are traditionally assumed to be rigid or pinned, but in the steel frames, most types of beam-column connections are semi-rigid.

Photothermal Macroporous Lignin Cryogels for Off‐Grid, Continuous Atmospheric Water Collection via Interlayer Heat Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photothermal, macroporous lignin‐based cryogels are engineered to convert sunlight into low‐grade heat. Integrated as stacked beds in a drum‐type device, a thin copper interlayer transfers waste heat between beds, enabling interlayer heat recovery and continuous solar cycling.

Comparing the diagnostic accuracy of semi-rigid and rigid pleuroscopy in diagnosis of exudative lymphocyte dominant pleural effusion with

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, 2020
Background and Objectives: Pleuroscopy is an appropriate technique for visualization and biopsy of the pleural lesions, performed by two different techniques.

The effect of taping versus semi-rigid bracing on patient outcome and satisfaction in ankle sprains: A prospective, randomized controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Functional treatment is a widely used and generally accepted treatment for ankle sprain. A meta-analysis comparing the different functional treatment options could not make definitive conclusions regarding the effectiveness, and until now ...

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Modeling DNA Structure, Elasticity and Deformations at the Base-pair Level

open access: yes, 2003
We present a generic model for DNA at the base-pair level. We use a variant of the Gay-Berne potential to represent the stacking energy between neighboring base-pairs.

Structural performance of semi-rigid composite frame under column loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The catenary action associated with significant second order effects plays an important role in resisting additional loads when structural column is destroyed under unexpected loads.

Electric Field‐Dependent Conductivity as Probe for Charge Carrier Delocalization and Morphology in Organic Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Applying a high electric field to a doped organic semiconductor heats up the charge carrier distribution beyond the lattice temperature, enhancing conductivity. It is shown that the associated effective temperature can be used to extract the effective localization length, which is a characteristic length scale of charge transport and provides ...

Deciphering Small Molecule Diffusion Parameters Across Light Responsive Polymersome Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light‐responsive polymersomes bearing donor–acceptor Stenhouse adducts (DASAs) enable programmable control over small‐molecule transport across synthetic membranes. By systematically varying DASA density, an optimal functionalization regime is identified that maximizes light‐gated permeability.

Approximate minimum-time trajectories for 2-link flexible manipulators [PDF]

open access: yes
Powell's nonlinear programming code, VF02AD, was used to generate approximate minimum-time tip trajectories for 2-link semi-rigid and flexible manipulator movements in the horizontal plane.
