Photothermal, macroporous lignin‐based cryogels are engineered to convert sunlight into low‐grade heat. Integrated as stacked beds in a drum‐type device, a thin copper interlayer transfers waste heat between beds, enabling interlayer heat recovery and continuous solar cycling.

An investigation on the effect of gusset plate connection rigidity on the seismic behavior of special concentrically braced frames [PDF]
Special concentrically braced frames (SCBFs) are commonly used to resist lateral loads in buildings. The bracing system sustains large deformations due to inelastic behavior in bracing members (buckling and yielding in tension).

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Design of non-linear semi-rigid steel frames with semi-rigid column bases
This article presents an analysis and design method for steel frames with semi-rigid connections and semirigid column bases. The analysis takes into account both the non-linear behaviour of beam-to-column connections and P-Δ effects of beam-column ...

Modelling of semi-rigid beam connections in timber-concrete composites [PDF]
Timber-concrete composite elements offer an efficient structural solution by combining the advantages of both materials. This paper focuses on the numerical modelling of semi-rigid connections and presents methods for incorporating them into FEM models ...

Influence Of HF2V Damping Devices On The Performance Of The SAC3 Building Subjected To The SAC Ground Motion Suites [PDF]
Recent advances in energy dissipation for structural systems can create structural connections that undergo zero sacrificial energy absorbing damage, even at extreme story drifts.

Applying a high electric field to a doped organic semiconductor heats up the charge carrier distribution beyond the lattice temperature, enhancing conductivity. It is shown that the associated effective temperature can be used to extract the effective localization length, which is a characteristic length scale of charge transport and provides ...

Geometric nonlinear vibration analysis of steel frames with semi-rigid connections and rigid-zones
To obtain an accurate insight into the behavior of the most realistic steel frames, joint flexibility should be allowed for in the analysis. So far, most research work is concentrated on the linear and geometric nonlinear static analysis of steel frames
