ABSTRACT This work presents a general framework for deriving the Young–Laplace equation and the Young's equations for an axisymmetric capillary bridge between two parallel plates by minimizing the system's total energy. These Young's equations naturally emerge as boundary conditions associated with the Young–Laplace equation.

On warped product semi-slant submanifolds of nearly Trans-Sasakian manifolds

In this paper, we study warped product semi-slant submanifold of type M = NT xf N? with slant fiber, isometrically immersed in a nearly Trans-Sasakian manifold by finding necessary and sufficient conditions in terms of Weingarten map. A characterization theorem is proved as main result.

Isotopy and equivalence of knots in 3‐manifolds

Abstract Two knots K$K$ and J$J$ in S3$S^3$ are isotopic if and only if they are related by an orientation‐preserving diffeomorphism of S3$S^3$. This claim follows from the fact that any orientation‐preserving self‐diffeomorphism of S3$S^3$ is isotopic to the identity. We show that this same idea applies to any prime oriented closed 3‐manifold.

Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons.
