A Riemannian Trust Region Method for the Canonical Tensor Rank Approximation Problem

open access: yes, 2018
The canonical tensor rank approximation problem (TAP) consists of approximating a real-valued tensor by one of low canonical rank, which is a challenging non-linear, non-convex, constrained optimization problem, where the constraint set forms a non ...

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

Flatness of Tensor Products and Semi-Rigidity for C_2-cofinite Vertex Operator Algebras I [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We study properties of a C_2-cofinite vertex operator algebra of CFT type. If it is also rational and V'\cong V, then the rigidity of the tensor category of modules has been proved by Huang.

The Boolean Algebra of Cubical Areas as a Tensor Product in the Category of Semilattices with Zero [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2014
In this paper we describe a model of concurrency together with an algebraic structure reflecting the parallel composition. For the sake of simplicity we restrict to linear concurrent programs i.e. the ones with no loops nor branching.

Triblock Polymer Engineering Enables Hydration‐Rich, High‐Performance, Fouling‐Resistant Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A molecularly engineered triblock polymer (PHZ) rapidly reorganizes into a hydration‐rich interfacial layer on diverse surfaces, strongly suppressing hydrophobic attraction and fouling. The triblock polymer provides robust energy and steric barriers to oily foulants, enabling high‐performance antifouling at ultralow dosage.

Boolean Network-Based Sensor Selection with Application to the Fault Diagnosis of a Nuclear Plant

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
Fault diagnosis is crucial for the operation of energy systems such as nuclear plants, and heavily relies on various types of sensors for temperature, pressure, concentration, etc.

Structure Formation in Butterfly Scales: Interplay of Genetic Control, Mechanical Instabilities, and Dynamic Material Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Butterfly wing scales are intricate cuticular functional nanosctructures. This perspective suggests that spatially varying material properties, cytoskeletal constraints, and growth‐driven mechanical instabilities shape the resulting nanoscale architectures created from single cells.

Faster Image Encryption: A Semi-Tensor Product Approach

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Computer Science and Engineering, 2018
Due to the large-scale of the images, they suffer from a long time to finish the process of encryption and decryption. In this paper, we propose a novel image-encryption algorithm to improve the performance of processing time based on the semi-tensor product (STP).

Semi-tensor Product-based TensorDecomposition for Neural Network Compression

open access: yes, 2021
The existing tensor networks adopt conventional matrix product for connection. The classical matrix product requires strict dimensionality consistency between factors, which can result in redundancy in data representation. In this paper, the semi-tensor product is used to generalize classical matrix product-based mode product to semi-tensor mode ...

Design for vegetable waste fermentation control systems based on semi-tensor product fuzzy controller

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2018
A multivariable fuzzy controller was designed to solve the control problem of vegetable waste fermentation. The knowledge-based fuzzy reasoning was constructed according to the sample data from both the fermentation process and the rule of temperature ...
