Geochemical Quantification of Semiarid Mountain Recharge
Groundwater, 2008Abstract Analysis of a typical semiarid mountain system recharge (MSR) setting demonstrates that geochemical tracers help resolve the location, rate, and seasonality of recharge as well as ground water flowpaths and residence times.

Evapotranspiration Model for Semiarid Regions
Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1985The Thornthwaite method for calculating evapotranspiration (ET) as used in the water management model, DRAINMOD, is modified for semi‐arid conditions since for such conditions the existing method had underestimated the average monthly ET rate by about 50%.

Reflectance modeling of semiarid woodlands
Remote Sensing of Environment, 1987Abstract Semiarid woodlands present a complex problem for quantative assessment with remotely sensed data. Vegetation is sparse and unevenly distributed, with trees obscuring and shadowing both understorey and bare soil. Reflectance modeling and calibration were tested using low-level aerial radiometry and photography.

Agroclimatology of Semiarid Lands
1990The mention of agroclimatology of semiarid lands immediately draws to mind rainfall and its seasonal distribution. Rainfall, both in amount and distribution, often means the difference between adequate or scarce food supplies in subsistence agriculture.

Evapotranspiration from Northern Semiarid Grasslands
Agronomy Journal, 2003Management of forage production for livestock grazing on semiarid grasslands depends on water availability. Evapotranspiration (ET) was measured using the Bowen ratio energy balance method on three grasslands at Mandan, ND: a nongrazed mixed‐grass prairie (prairie), a grazed mixed‐grass prairie (grazed prairie), and a grazed western wheatgrass ...

Semiarid environments show specific hydrological responses and geomorphological processes. Semiarid environments are characterized by dry conditions that do not allow for a full but, instead, only for a partial vegetation cover. The vegetation cover is generally patterned in a heterogeneous mosaic of vegetation patches and bare interpatches.
