Video head impulse test in children after cochlear implantation [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2019
Background/Aim. Cochlear implantation (CI) is a therapeutic modality that provides a sense of sound to children and adults with profound sensorineural hearing loss or deafness.

An Analysis of Semicircular Channel Backscattering Interferometry through Ray Tracing Simulations

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Recent backscattering interferometry studies utilise a single channel microfluidic system, typically approximately semicircular in cross-section. Here, we present a complete ray tracing model for on-chip backscattering interferometry with a semicircular ...

Mechanical end joint system for structural column elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
A mechanical end joint system, useful for the transverse connection of strut elements to a common node, comprises a node joint half with a semicircular tongue and groove, and a strut joint half with a semicircular tongue and groove.

In Situ Constructed Magnetic Core‐Shell Hydrogen‐Bonded Organic Framework‐on‐Metal–Organic Framework Structure: an Efficient Catalyst for Peroxymonosulfate Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a magnetic core‐shell catalyst (HOF‐on‐Fe3O4/ZIF‐67) is successfully synthesized, consisting of a metal–organic framework (ZIF‐67) with magnetic Fe3O4 as the core and a porous hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) as the shell. The catalyst efficiently activated peroxymonosulfate, resulting in rapid and effective removal of water ...

Assessment of the hydro-thermal performance for a novel hexagonal mini-channel heat sink for cooling a cylindrical heat source

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
Liquid cooling using a mini-channel heat sink (MHS) has been highly efficient in cooling rectangular and cylindrical lithium batteries. This work proposed a new hexagonal MHS (HMHS) to cool a cylindrical heat source instead of the traditional cylindrical

Functional implications of ubiquitous semicircular canal non-orthogonality in mammals.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The 'canonical model' of semicircular canal orientation in mammals assumes that 1) the three ipsilateral canals of an inner ear exist in orthogonal planes (i.e., orthogonality), 2) corresponding left and right canal pairs have equivalent angles (i.e ...

Free evolution on algebras with two states II

open access: yes, 2014
Denote by $J$ the operator of coefficient stripping. We show that for any free convolution semigroup of measures $\nu_t$ with finite variance, applying a single stripping produces semicircular evolution with non-zero initial condition, $J[\nu_t] = \rho ...

Bilateral semicircular canal aplasia

open access: yesEuropean Annals of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Diseases, 2013
Bilateral semicircular canal aplasia is extremely rare; discovery, when the cochlear-vestibular system is normal and there is no hearing loss, is serendipitous.Bilateral semicircular canal aplasia was serendipitously discovered in a 24-year-old male during assessment of unilateral mixed hearing loss with subnormal contralateral hearing.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Thinned and Sparse Beamforming for Semicircular FDAs in the Transmit–Receive Domain

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The thinned and sparse beamforming for semicircular FDAs were investigated, where the excitation amplitudes were also considered in thinned semicircular FDAs, and only the elements’ positions were incorporated into the sparse semicircular FDA.
