Congenital Dehiscence in the Posterior Semicircular Canal

open access: yesOtology & Neurotology, 2013
Posterior semicircular canal dehiscence (PSCD) may be of congenital origin.PSCD is characterized by the lack of bone coverage, which results in its lumen being exposed to the meninges of the posterior cranial fossa or to the gulf of the jugular vein. It has an incidence of 0.2%.

Orientation of the semicircular canals in rat

Brain Research, 1989
The orientation of the rat semicircular canals was determined using one of two techniques. Null point analysis was used to define physiologically the planar equations of the anterior (n = 15) and posterior canals (n = 15); equations for the horizontal canal (n = 19) were determined using an anatomical dissection technique. Canal orientation was defined

Superior semicircular canal dehiscence: A new perspective

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Radiology Open, 2017
Objective: To determine the use of multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) in the diagnostic interpretation of superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) or thinning and its association with ear pathologies and to find whether it is an acquired ...

The flow of endolymph in the semicircular canals

Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1979
The response of the receptors in the semicircular canals to rotary movement of the head is usually described in terms of an ordinary second order differential equation. There are, however, some theoretical objections to this equation and these are examined.
