An Electrokinetic Model of Transduction in the Semicircular Canal

open access: bronzeBiophysical Journal, 1970
Transduction in the semicircular canal was studied by focusing an infrared beam on either side of exposed ampullae from the posterior canals of Rana pipiens. The direction of fluid movement resulting from a stimulus was inferred by observing the polarity of the change in afferent impulse mean rate relative to the spontaneous value.

The Age-Related Orientational Changes of Human Semicircular Canals [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology, 2016
Objectives Some changes are found in the labyrinth anatomy during postnatal development. Although the spatial orientation of semicircular canals was thought to be stable after birth, we investigated the age-related orientational changes of human ...

An Uncommon Case of Bilateral Posterior and Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Anatomy Radiology and Surgery, 2020
Semicircular Canal Dehiscences (SCD) are rare and involvement of Posterior Semicircular Canal (PSCC) and/or multiple dehiscences are even rarer. A dehiscence of any of the semicircular canals may produce various auditory or vestibular symptoms by ...

An Exploratory In Vitro Microcomputed Tomographic Investigation of the Efficacy of Semicircular Apicoectomy Performed with Trephine Bur

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Purpose: Recently, a novel approach to apicoectomy has emerged, involving the use of a hollow trephine with a surgical guide. This innovative technique creates a semicircular section, in contrast to the conventional straight cut (with a bur).
