Scattering of NO Molecules from a Graphite Surface: Selectivity of the Rotational Excitation by Inelastic Collisions

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 17, September 10, 2025.
Selectivity and propensity have been emphasized for NO molecules scattered from a graphite surface, employing molecular dynamics simulation alongside a new potential energy surface, including an appropriate treatment of the long‐range interaction, governing the formation of the precursor state, that then reacts with the surface.

Partition Functions and Mass Action Constants of Plasmas of Light Elements at Higher Temperatures

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, Volume 65, Issue 7, August 2025.
ABSTRACT We first analyze the relations between the work of Planck and Klimontovich and show that Klimontovich's kinetic theory of non‐ideal plasmas confirms Planck's partition function for the hydrogen plasma. We discuss and check the Planck‐Brillouin‐Larkin (PBL) expressions for Hydrogen with PIMC calculations and derive new partition functions and ...

Semiclassical limits for the QCD Dirac operator

open access: yes, 2005
We identify three semiclassical parameters in the QCD Dirac operator. Mutual coupling of the different types of degrees of freedom (translational, colour and spin) depends on how the semiclassical limit is taken.

Electrical Conductivities and Low Frequency Opacities in the Warm Dense Matter Regime

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, Volume 65, Issue 6, July 2025.
ABSTRACT In this article, we examine different approaches for calculating low frequency opacities in the warm dense matter regime. The relevance of the average‐atom approximation and of different models for calculating opacities, such as the Ziman or Ziman–Evans models is discussed and the results compared to ab initio simulations.

Scattering phase asymptotics with fractal remainders

open access: yes, 2012
For a Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ which is isometric to the Euclidean space outside of a compact set, and whose trapped set has Liouville measure zero, we prove Weyl type asymptotics for the scattering phase with remainder depending on the classical ...

Problem of Nonlinear Conductivity within Relaxation Time Approximation in Noncentrosymmetric Insulators

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), Volume 262, Issue 7, July 2025.
It is demonstrated that the relaxation time approximation (RTA) for the quantum kinetic equation, a simple method for describing nonequilibrium steady states, has a critical flaw in the longitudinal nonlinear DC conductivity of insulators under weak electric fields.

Resonant uniqueness of radial semiclassical Schrodinger operators

open access: yes, 2012
We prove that radial, monotonic, superexponentially decaying potentials in R^n, n greater than or equal to 1 odd, are determined by the resonances of the associated semiclassical Schrodinger operator among all superexponentially decaying potentials in R ...

Sensing with quantum light: a perspective

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 14, Issue 11, Page 1993-2003, June 2025.
Abstract I present my perspective on sensing with quantum light. I summarise the motivations and methodology for identifying quantum enhancements in sensing over a classical sensor. In the real world, this enhancement will be a constant factor and not increase with the size of the quantum probe as is often advertised.

Spinfoams in the holomorphic representation

open access: yes, 2010
We study a holomorphic representation for spinfoams. The representation is obtained via the Ashtekar-Lewandowski-Marolf-Mour\~ao-Thiemann coherent state transform.

Rate Constants and Energetics of the H2SiO + H Reaction System: RP‐VTST/MT and VRC Calculations

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 46, Issue 14, May 30, 2025.
The decomposition of Silaformaldehyde (H2SiO) involves three reactions: H + H2SiO → H2 + HSiO (R1), H + H2SiO → H2SiOH (R2), and H + H2SiO → H3SiO (R3). Accurate energetics were calculated using ωB97X‐D and CCSD(T), and rate constants using CVT methods with multidimensional tunneling.
