In this thesis we consider in detail the following two fundamental problems for semigroup presentations: 1. Given a semigroup find a presentation defining it. 2. Given a presentation describe the semigroup defined by it.

Properties of semigroups of elementary types of model classes
The study of classes of first-order countable language models and their properties is an important direction in model theory. Of particular interest are axiomatizable classes of models (varieties, quasivarieties, finitely axiomatizable classes ...

Green index and finiteness conditions for semigroups
Let S be a semigroup and let T be a subsemigroup of S. Then T acts on S by left and by right multiplication. If the complement S \ T has finitely many strong orbits by both these actions we say that T has finite Green index in S.

Fragmentation arising from a distributional initial condition
A standard model for pure fragmentation is subjected to an initial condition of Dirac-delta type. Results for a corresponding abstract Cauchy problem are derived via the theory of equicontinuous semigroups of operators on locally convex spaces.

A Semigroups Approach to the Study of a Second Order Partial Diferential Equation Applied in Economics [PDF]
In this paper we will study the well-known problem of production functions in an operator semigroup approach. In general, semigroups can be used to solve a large class of problems com-monly known as evolution equations.
