A methodological workflow for quantitative colouration and colour pattern comparison reveals taxonomic and habitat‐level differences in the polymorphic fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra)

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, Volume 324, Issue 1, Page 34-49, September 2024.
In this study, we use the urodele Salamandra salamandra as a study model to apply an analytical approach for extracting and quantifying colour proportions and patterns variation, using the recently developed R packages patternize and recolorize, to accurately describe and compare colour distribution at both taxonomic and habitat levels.

Rationalization of a Streptavidin Based Enantioselective Artificial Suzukiase: An Integrative Computational Approach

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 39, July 11, 2024.
A computational modeling approach is applied to rationalize the impact of streptavidin mutations and length of the biotion cofactor on the enantioselective Suzuki‐Miyaura synthesis of binaphthyls by means of an Artificial Metalloenzyme built employing the streptavidin‐biotin technology.

Unlocking fast‐charging capabilities of lithium‐ion batteries through liquid electrolyte engineering

open access: yesEcoMat, Volume 6, Issue 7, July 2024.
The fast‐charging performance of lithium‐ion batteries can be achieved by electrolytes that provide well‐connected ion channels with homogeneous Li+ flux and solvents with moderate solvating power to facilitate desolvation. Furthermore, an ionically conductive solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) plays a crucial role in reducing the desolvation energy ...

G protein‐coupled estrogen receptor agonist G‐1 decreases ADAM10 levels and NLRP3‐inflammasome component activation in response to Staphylococcus aureus alpha‐hemolysin

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 13, Issue 3, June 2024.
G‐1, a selective agonist of the G protein‐coupled estrogen receptor (GPER), mitigates the pathogenesis mediated by alpha‐hemolysin, a toxin produced by Staphylococcus aureus. It achieves this by reducing the surface display of the toxin's receptor, ADAM10. Our study, conducted on macrophage‐like differentiated THP‐1 cells, reveals that treatment with G‐
