How to report neurotechnology and artificial intelligence studies in epilepsy: Peer‐review‐inspired recommendations

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective The integration of neurotechnology and artificial intelligence (AI) in epilepsy research has led to significant advancements in diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. However, the impact of these innovations is often diminished by inadequate and inaccurate reporting, limiting their reproducibility and implementation.

Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP): Risk management of pediatric patients with epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is the leading cause of death in people with epilepsy with an incidence of 1:1000. The primary risk factors for SUDEP are generalized or focal to bilateral tonic–clonic seizures. Preventive measures like nighttime monitoring devices and resuscitation training address modifiable risk factors.

Efficacy of neurosurgical interventions for epilepsy in polymicrogyria: A systematic review

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Polymicrogyria (PMG) is a rare malformation of cortical development (MCD) characterized by abnormal neuronal architecture, often associated with epilepsy. Neurosurgical interventions have been explored, but their effectiveness remains a subject of ongoing research and debate.

Semiology in spontaneous versus cortical stimulation‐induced seizures during SEEG: A within‐patient comparison study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We aimed to study the concordance of seizure semiology in direct electrical stimulation‐induced seizures (SIS) compared to spontaneous seizures during stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) and to report on patient‐level variables associated with habitual and atypical SIS.

Neuropsychological correlations with fornix and hippocampus in temporal lobe epilepsy demonstrated with diffusion tensor imaging

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Memory dysfunction is a common disabling comorbidity in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and hippocampal sclerosis (HS). While bilateral fornix diffusion abnormalities have been reported in TLE using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), the impact of fornix pathology on cognitive outcomes remains unclear.
