In this chapter we introduce semi-direct products such as the Poincare group, the Galilei group and the Bargmann group. We describe their irreducible unitary representations, which are induced from representations of their translation subgroup combined with a so-called little group.

Epidemic dynamics on semi-directed complex networks
Mathematical Biosciences, 2013In this paper an SIS model for epidemic spreading on semi-directed networks is established, which can be used to examine and compare the impact of undirected and directed contacts on disease spread. The model is analyzed for the case of uncorrelated semi-directed networks, and the basic reproduction number R0 is obtained analytically.

Produits semi-directs acycliques

Simultaneous Direct And Semi-direct Solutions In Reservoir Simulation
Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology, 1981Introduction An efficient simultaneous semi-direct iterative method, which improves upon the capability of iterative methods, is described. The semi-direct method presents the advantages of including additional diagonals in the "triangular decomposition process, with a different internal approximation to Lelkeman"s ...

A Semi-Automatic Direct-Recording Balance
Applied Statistics, 1969A system for the direct recording of weights and other data from vegetable experiments on punched paper tape is described. The system can only be used for transportable material. The console which controls the taking of records was built to N.V.R.S. specification.

The validity of direct versus semi- direct oral tests
Language Testing, 1994The article reports the results of a study which examined the validity of two oral language tests - one direct and one semi-direct. While concurrent validity of the two types of tests (as obtained via correlations in a number of earlier studies) was high, a variety of qualitative analyses indicated that the two tests differed in a number of aspects ...

Automorphism Groups of Semi-Direct Products
Communications in Algebra, 2012Let G = A ⋊ B be a semi-direct product of two groups. We investigate conditions under which the subgroup of Aut(G) fixing A as a set is also a semi-direct product. If A is characteristic in G, then we have conditions under which Aut(G) itself is a semi-direct product.

Representations of Semi-direct Products
2017In this chapter, we will examine some aspects of representations of semi-direct products, in particular for the case of the Jacobi group and its Lie algebra, as well as the case of \(N\rtimes K\), for N commutative. The latter case includes the Euclidean groups E(d), as well as the Poincare group which will come into play once we introduce special ...

Direct and semi-direct posterior composite restorations.
Practical periodontics and aesthetic dentistry : PPAD, 1997Since the introduction of composite resins in dentistry, the adhesive properties of the material to enamel and dentin surfaces have been improved considerably, resulting in more conservative cavity preparation and the preservation of natural tooth structure.
