Amartya Sen: ethics and economics Amartya Sen. Ética y economía

open access: yesCuadernos de Economía, 1998
This essay presents two contributions of the Amartya Sen to the debates over ethics and economics. First, his break with utilitarianist and welfarist ethics -the foundation of normative economics- and his call to modify the metrics of utility, the only ...

Visible Light‐Activated ZnO@CuO Coaxial Nanofibers Enhance Infected Skin Wound Healing Through Construction of p‐n Heterojunctions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coaxial ZnO@CuO nanofibers activated by visible light generate ROS through enhanced photocatalytic reactions driven by improved electron hole separation in the heterojunction. This strategy enables rapid antimicrobial activity and early infection control, thereby promoting the healing of MRSA infected and diabetic wounds with biosafe and easily ...

Sen and the collective choice Sen y la elección colectiva

open access: yesCuadernos de Economía, 1998
<p>Between Arrow and Sen there are two types of rupture. The first, in coherence with the founding premises of the impossibility theorems of Arrow, shows that it is feasible to find consistent processes of collective choice, as long as one is ...

Quasi‐Periodic Porous Structures‐Based Temperature and Pressure Dual‐Mode Electronic Skin for Material Cognition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A quasi‐periodic porous structure‐based temperature and pressure dual‐mode electronic skin was proposed. Benefiting from the quasi‐periodic porous structure, the temperature and pressure sensing performance of the electronic skin can be precisely constructed and optimized by changing the size of the porous structure. By analyzing the thermoelectric and

Fibrates Inhibit PLTP‐induced M2 Macrophage Infiltration and Increase the Sensitivity of Hepatocellular Carcinoma to ICIs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phospholipid transfer protein(PLTP) plays a critical role in forming a complex with kinase A (AURKA) and P65. This interaction facilitates phosphorylation of P65 at Ser536, leading to the activation of the NF‐κB signaling pathway. Ultimately, this leads to the upregulation of downstream cytokines, including IL‐6, IL‐8, and CSF‐1, which promotes M2 ...

Special educational needs provision in primary education and its impact on unauthorised absence in children born with Cleft Lip and Palate: a population level study using linked health and education data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Population Data Science
Introduction Without accounting for the underlying need for Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision, pupils with SEN in England have been shown to have higher rates of unauthorised absences.   Objectives and Approach Our objective was to understand

ERM Inhibition Confers Ferroptosis Resistance through ROS‐Induced NRF2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ERM inhibition disrupts ERM‐actin interactions, elevating ROS and triggering KEAP1 degradation, which stabilizes and activates NRF2. Nuclear NRF2 induces cytoprotective genes, notably HMOX1, enhancing redox buffering and suppressing lipid peroxidation to resist erastin‐induced ferroptosis.
