Glagolitic Books Printed in Senj in 1508

Towards the end of the 15th and during the first decade of the 16th century (1494-1508) there was a printing works in Senj in which at least seven books in Glagolitic sript were printed. Two of these were liturgical, the other five consists of translations into Croatian of popular European church manuals and other literary didactic texts.

Reconstruction of the Glagolitic Press from Senj, Croatia

The Faculty of Graphic Art of the University of Zagreb has launched a project as part of which an entire printing system will be reconstructed and revitalized, as used for printing the Senj missal, incunabula, that is, the first books printed on Croatian soil.
