Systemic Expression of Genes Involved in the Plant Defense Response Induced by Wounding in Senna tora. [PDF]
Wounds in tissues provide a pathway of entry for pathogenic fungi and bacteria in plants. Plants respond to wounding by regulating the expression of genes involved in their defense mechanisms. To analyze this response, we investigated the defense-related genes induced by wounding in the leaves of Senna tora using RNA sequencing.

Diversity and Distribution Patterns of Invasive Alien Plant Species Along Dispersal Corridors in Parsa National Park, Central Nepal. [PDF]
Protected areas face growing pressure from invasive alien plant species (IAPS), whose distribution differs across dispersal corridors. This study reveals that road verges and riversides were the most heavily invaded areas (70% of recorded species), with Chromolaena odorata being the most dominant IAPS.

Legume genome structures and histories inferred from Cercis canadensis and Chamaecrista fasciculata genomes. [PDF]
SUMMARY The legume family originated ca. 60–65 million years ago and soon diversified into at least six lineages (now extant subfamilies). The signal of whole genome duplications (WGD) is apparent in species sampled from all six subfamilies. The early diversification has posed difficulties for resolving the legume backbone structure and the timing of ...

Alternative Approaches and Plant-Based Remedies for Livestock Health Management Among the Batswana of Southern Africa: A Review. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Due to limited access to, and the high cost of conventional veterinary services, Batswana communities often rely on ethnoveterinary practices for livestock health management. This review provides an in‐depth analysis on the ethnoveterinary uses, biological properties and safety assessment of plants utilised in livestock husbandry. A systematic

Genome-Enabled Discovery of Anthraquinone Biosynthesis in Senna tora [PDF]
Abstract Senna tora is a widely used medicinal plant. Its health benefits have been attributed to the large quantity of anthraquinones, but how they are made in plants remains a mystery. To identify the genes responsible for plant anthraquinone biosynthesis, we sequenced and annotated the genome of

Replacement control of Mikania micrantha in orchards and its eco-physiological mechanism
Mikania micrantha is one of the most notorious invasive weeds in south China, especially in orchard habitats. Based on the principle of niche competition, screening plants with strong competitiveness and managing vacant niches through natural alternative

Society anticipates a world in which more food and fiber must be produced at warmer temperatures, which, on the contrary, have greater constraints on the use of water and fertilizers. Tree legumes are often the climax vegetation on the semi‐arid and arid lands, covering ~25% of the planet, but the knowledge of their genomes is limited.

Distribution, drivers and restoration priorities of plant invasions in India
India implemented national‐scale invasive plant monitoring by integrating it with the umbrella project on tiger assessment. Embarking on this big data, we show that two‐thirds of India's natural areas are under multiple plant invasions, owing to the legacy of anthropogenic modifications.
