Fabrication of Multifunctional FeSi Gyroid Lattice Composites via Additive Manufacturing and Polymer Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐step approach combining laser powder bed fusion of FeSi electrical steel with Bakelite infiltration enables the fabrication of multifunctional gyroid lattice composites. The resulting structures exhibit high strength, magnetic anisotropy, and complete polymer infiltration, demonstrating a simple and scalable route toward lightweight, mechanically

Complementary Relationship Among Heat Flux Ratios and Maximum Entropy Production Principle in Humid Forests

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Understanding how the net Solar radiation is partitioned into heat fluxes on land surface is fundamental to understand water, energy, and carbon cycles. Here we claim that, in forests under energy‐limited environment, the proportion in the net radiation ...

Influence of Sample Preparation and Processing Procedures on the Thermal Diffusivity of MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Thermoelectric Modules Incorporating MgAgSb and Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 Synthesized Using a Melting Method

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable synthesis method for a thermoelectric material of MgAgSb is established. A thermoelectric power module of MgAgSb/Mg3(Sb,Bi)2 is fabricated, showing the conversion efficiency of 7.4% at ΔT = 315 K. The performance is comparable to conventional Bi2Te3 modules when they are operated with an air‐cooled heat exchanger.

Obtaining Surface Momentum and Sensible Heat Fluxes from Crosswind Scintillometers

open access: yesJournal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 2000
Abstract A crosswind scintillometer measures the average wind speed perpendicular to its propagation path, U⊥, and the refractive index structure parameter C2n. While C2n is a turbulence statistic, the worth of U⊥ for turbulence research is not immediately obvious.
