Association of sensitive skin with sensitive corneas and sensitive eyelids
Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, 2019AbstractBackgroundSensitive scalp or irritable bowel syndrome has been previously shown to be associated with sensitive skin. We wondered whether sensitive eyelids and sensitive eyes could also be associated with sensitive skin.MethodsA cross‐sectional epidemiological study was carried out on a representative sample of French people, according to the ...

SENSITIVITY COMPENSATION AND SENSITIVITY SYNTHESIS
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1964Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the sensitivity compensation and sensitivity synthesis. It presents a design procedure for achieving compensation to plant parameter variations because of external variables. It is based on an extension of the concept of sensitivity to that of dependency on several variables.

Transplantation, 2000
Since the landmark studies of Patel and Terasaki in the late 1960s, pretransplant cross-matching has been performed by HLA laboratories on a 24-hr/7-day basis. In fact, regulating agencies such as the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics and the United Network for Organ Sharing have mandated prospective crossmatching for selected ...

How Sensitive is Sensitivity Training?
American Journal of Psychiatry, 1969The author describes three cases of emotional disturbance aggravated by sensitivity training. No quackery was detected, but the absence of ethical standards and an apparent abrogation of responsibility by the trainers and their sponsoring institutions was noted.

Attention bias and sensitization in chemical sensitivity
Journal of Psychosomatic Research, 2009We investigated whether persons with self-reported chemical sensitivity (CS) have an attention bias and enhanced sensitization to chemical exposure.Chemosomatosensory, olfactory, and auditory event-related potentials (ERPs) were recorded from 21 CS subjects and 17 controls in attend and ignore conditions.

Current Opinion in Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2001
The mechanisms responsible for sensitization, in particular within the gastrointestinal tract, are IgE-mediated as well as of a non-IgE-mediated, immunological origin. The phenomenon that is the opposite of sensitization is the maintenance of tolerance and is exemplified by the phenomenon 'oral tolerance'.

Punctate sensitivity of the blue-sensitive mechanism
Vision Research, 1981Abstract Thresholds were measured for a tiny, brief, violet flash on a long wavelength, B cone-isolating background in foveal locations spaced only 4 or 5′ of arc apart. Large spatial variations in B cone sensitivity were found just beyond the foveal tritanopic area even though thresholds for the same wavelength test flash hardly varied at all across

Spectral Sensitization and Sensitizing Dyes
2004Silver halides have intrinsic sensitivity only at a wavelength shorter than about 450 nm, as described in Chapters 3 and 4. This means that silver halides themselves are not sensitive to green and red lights among visible light. Hence, spectral sensitization for the green and red regions of light is indispensable to both black-and-white and color ...
