Location, location, location: Variation in sensitivity to pain across the body

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, 2016
AbstractBackgroundThere is evidence that sensitivity to noxious stimuli differs between the sexes and across the body, but few studies have investigated differences in the perception and experience of acute pain stimuli across the body in healthy individuals.MethodsWe recruited 52 healthy participants, aged 18–36 (50% men) and administered 39, 42 and ...

Biomimetic Copper‐Doped Nano‐Aluminum Adjuvant Potentiates Therapy in Chemoresistant Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a novel copper‐doped aluminum nano‐adjuvant (CuNA) to overcome cytarabine resistance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). CuNA effectively sensitizes drug‐resistant AML cells to cytarabine by inducing mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibiting HMGCR/GPX4 to amplify ferroptosis.

Effects of ionizing radiation on the immune system with special emphasis on the interaction of dendritic and T cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2012
Dendritic cells (DCs), as professional antigen presenting cells (APCs), are members of the innate immune system and function as key players during the induction phase of adaptive immune responses.

Heterologous carriers in the anamnestic antihapten response [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Anamnestic antihapten responses were obtained to trinitrophenyl (TNP) when rabbits sensitized to trinitrophenyl-hemocyanin (TNP-KLH) were challenged with TNP-heterologous protein conjugates.

Paradoxical Glucose-Sensitizing yet Proinflammatory Effects of Acute ASP Administration in Mice

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2013
Acylation stimulating protein (ASP) is an adipokine derived from the immune complement system, which stimulates fat storage and is typically increased in obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Using a diet-induced obesity (DIO) mouse model,

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...
