Sensors at center for advanced sensors

2009 IEEE Sensors Applications Symposium, 2009
Sensing applications for Homeland Security, Sensor Arrays, Wireless and Networked Sensors, Multisensor Data Fusion, and Remote Sensing are being developed at The University of Memphis' Center for Advanced Sensors (CAS). In addition, many other sensor systems are being analyzed, developed and designed.

An image sensor for on-sensor-compression

Proceedings of Conference on Computer Architectures for Machine Perception, 2002
We present a novel image sensor on which image signal can be compressed. Since image signal is compressed on an imager plane by making use of parallel nature of image signals, the amount of signal read out from the imager can be significantly reduced. Thus, the proposed sensor can be potentially applied to high pixel rate cameras and processing systems

Power for sensors; sensors for power

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
As sensors are increasingly deployed in locations removed from mains power and increasingly expected to operate for times that are long compared to battery lifetimes we look to means for "harvesting" or "scavenging" energy from the sensors' operating environments.

Composite sensor and acceleration sensor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
In an acceleration sensor, a first vibrator is arranged on a surface of a substrate such that the vibrator can vibrate in an X-axis direction. An angular-velocity-detecting vibrator is arranged inside the first vibrator such that the vibrator can be displaced in a Y-axis direction.

Other Types of Sensors: Impedance-Based Sensors, FET Sensors, Acoustic Sensors

2014
In this chapter, types of electrochemical sensor or biosensor which are based on electrical properties and which cannot be grouped into normal voltammetric or potentiometric sensors are addressed, giving the fundamental principles and selected examples to show how they are implemented for characterisation and for analysis.

Sensor and a sensor system

The invention relates to a sensor and a system for measuring pressure, variation in sound pressure, a magnetic field, acceleration, vibration, or the composition of a gas. The sensor comprises an ultrasound transmitter, a cavity, and a passive sensor element.
