The development of a Wireless Sensor Network sensing node utilising adaptive self-diagnostics. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) applications, sensor nodes are often deployed in harsh environments. Routine maintenance, fault detection and correction is dicult, infrequent and expensive.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Measurement System for the Calibration of Accelerometer Arrays

open access: yesAnalecta
This paper addresses accelerometer array calibration, focusing on determining the errors between multiple sensors. Micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) based triaxial accelerometers, key components of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), are ...

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Long-Term Evaluation and Calibration of Low-Cost Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor

open access: yes, 2020
Low-cost light scattering particulate matter (PM) sensors have been widely researched and deployed in order to overcome the limitations of low spatio-temporal resolution of government-operated beta attenuation monitor (BAM).

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Magnetometer Calibration Using Inertial Sensors

open access: yesIEEE Sensors Journal, 2016
In this work we present a practical algorithm for calibrating a magnetometer for the presence of magnetic disturbances and for magnetometer sensor errors. To allow for combining the magnetometer measurements with inertial measurements for orientation estimation, the algorithm also corrects for misalignment between the magnetometer and the inertial ...

Efficient generic calibration method for general cameras with single centre of projection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Generic camera calibration is a non-parametric calibration technique that is applicable to any type of vision sensor. However, the standard generic calibration method was developed with the goal of generality and it is therefore sub-optimal for the ...

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair
