In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Hybrid Mode Sensor Fusion for Accurate Robot Positioning

open access: yesSensors
Robotic systems are becoming increasingly crucial in applications requiring high precision. While a robot can operate using basic sensor feedback under controlled conditions, achieving micro-level accuracy requires more comprehensive data integration ...

Overlapping Coalition Formation for Efficient Data Fusion in Multi-Sensor Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper develops new algorithms for coalition formation within multi-sensor networks tasked with performing wide-area surveillance. Specifically, we cast this application as an instance of coalition formation, with overlapping coalitions. We show that

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Data Fusion in Wireless Sensor Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
<p>Ongoing research involves designing routing protocols that requires less energy during communication thereby extending the networks lifetime as well as reliable network for efficient communication. Our research has come up with DSDV (Destination Sequenced Distance Vector) routing protocols that can enhance network’s capabilities in different ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A Reliability-Based Method to Sensor Data Fusion

open access: yesSensors, 2017
Multi-sensor data fusion technology based on Dempster–Shafer evidence theory is widely applied in many fields. However, how to determine basic belief assignment (BBA) is still an open issue.

A Systematic Review on Fusion Techniques and Approaches Used in Applications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Fusion technologies have rapidly evolved. These technologies are normally customized according to the needs of domains. Despite a large number of publications on intelligence fusion applications for various domains, they are scattered.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
