Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Dynamic Sensor Compensation Using Analogue Adaptive Filter Compatible with Digital Technology

open access: yes, 2005
An analogue adaptive filter for dynamic response compensation of a load cell sensor is presented. The filter employs only transistors and therefore it can be integrated using standard digital CMOS technology, which is suitable for System-on-Chip ...

Enhanced piezoelectric energy harvesting powered wireless sensor nodes using passive interfaces and power management approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Low-frequency vibrations typically occur in many practical structures and systems when in use, for example, in aerospaces and industrial machines. Piezoelectric materials feature compactness, lightweight, high integration potential, and permit to ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Towards exclusive use of SI units in sensor systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sensors and Sensor Systems
In times of digital transformation, machines are expected to operate exclusively using the International System of Units (SI), something that humans have not yet fully achieved. The same should include sensor systems feeding data to those machines.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.
