Nomadic sensor networks

Proceeedings of the Second European Workshop on Wireless Sensor Networks, 2005., 2005
Wireless sensor networks (WSN) have been investigated in their various forms over the last years as they are considered to be a major step towards pervasive computing. Nevertheless, except for military applications WSNs can be found only as 'proof of concept'.

A wake-on sensor network

Proceedings of the 7th ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems, 2009
This paper present a wake-on sensor network formed with the wake-on motes, TelosW. Our wake-on hardware and software design enable lower power operations and longer network lifetime.

Sensor networks in Telecare

Proceedings of the 4th workshop on Embedded networked sensors, 2007
This paper discusses the results obtained from a sensor network installed in a person's home as part of a twelve month Telecare trial. The aim of the trial was to unobtrusively collect data to detect changes in a person's daily activity (washing, eating, watching television etc.) around a home, using a low power/cost sensor network.

Connectivity in Sensor Networks

2007 40th Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS'07), 2007
We analyze the probability that an arbitrarily selected sensor node in a sensor network is connected to a specified number, m, of other sensor nodes; i.e., that a communication path exists between a selected node and at least m other nodes. Specifically, we consider the following problem: If given a collection of sensor nodes, each with a communication

Redoubtable Sensor Networks

ACM Transactions on Information and System Security, 2008
We give, for the first time, a precise mathematical analysis of the connectivity and security properties of sensor networks that make use of the random predistribution of keys. We also show how to set the parameters---pool and key ring size---in such a way that the network is not only connected with high probability via secure links but also provably ...

Networking Wireless Sensors

2005
Wireless sensor networks promise an unprecedented fine-grained interface between the virtual and physical worlds. They are one of the most rapidly developing information technologies, with applications in a wide range of fields including industrial process control, security and surveillance, environmental sensing, and structural health monitoring ...

Unassailable sensor networks

Proceedings of the 4th international conference on Security and privacy in communication netowrks, 2008
We show that massive attacks against sensor networks that use random key pre-distribution schemes cannot be cheap, provided that the parameters are set in the right way. By choosing them appropriately, any adversary whose aim is to compromise a large fraction of the communication links is forced, with overwhelming probability, to capture a large ...

Applications of Sensor Networks

2007
Networks of small sensor nodes, so-called sensor networks, allow to monitor and analyze complex phenomena over a large region and for a long period of time. Recent advances in sensor network research allow for small and cheap sensor nodes which can obtain a lot of data about physical values, e.g.
