Natural Killer Cells in Paediatric Soft Tissue Sarcomas: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Paediatric soft tissue sarcomas (pSTS) are a rare and heterogeneous group of malignant tumours arising in tissues of mesenchymal origin. The role of natural killer (NK) cells in pSTS remains poorly understood, with evidence fragmented across small preclinical studies and early‐phase clinical trials.

Video Semantics and the Sensor Web [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The most widespread way in which content-based access to video information is supported is through using a combination of video metadata (date, time, format, etc.) and user-generated description (user tags, ratings, reviews, etc.). This has had widespread usage and is the basis for navigation through video archives in systems such as YouTube, Open ...

Semantic Matchmaking & Mediation for Sensors on the Sensor Web

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2014
With myriads sensors out there, the manual matching of their characteristics and constraints is not feasible anymore and requires a detailed understanding of sensor metadata and observed properties. Thus, Plug & Play-like approaches that ease the matching of sensors to Web services have become popular in Sensor Web Enablement research. Simple matching,

Animal‐Assisted Activities With Therapy Dogs in Pediatric Oncology: A Multicenter Survey of the Current Status, Implementation, and Challenges in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Animal‐assisted activities (AAAs) with therapy dogs have shown positive effects on patient well‐being and quality of life in various areas of medicine, including pediatric oncology. However, research on this topic is limited. The aim of this study is to present the current status of AAA in pediatric oncology in Germany, Austria, and

Sensor similarity search in the Web of Things [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks (WoWMoM), 2012
An increasing number of sensors is being connected to the Internet and their output is published on theWeb, resulting in the formation of a Web of Things (WoT) that will soon connect tens of Billions of devices. We propose sensor similarity search, where given a sensor, other sensors on the WoT are found that produced similar output in the past. At the

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
