On sensorless control of a class of electrical machines
Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2004The problem of sensorless (local) speed regulation of a class of electrical machines is addressed and solved using a simple linear-time varying controller. The class, which contains permanent magnet synchronous and stepper motors, consists of all fully actuated machines whose magneto motive force can be approximated by a first harmonic Fourier ...

Sensorless fourquadrant drives
1987 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 1987The development of automated systems requires more and more electrical drives which have a variable speed. Thereby economical aspects are as important as a good dynamical behaviour. In contrast to conventional controlled converter drives the presented control strategy encreases the economy and the safety in operation as sensors for current, voltage and

Sensorless orientation of 3D polyhedral parts
Proceedings 2002 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.02CH37292), 2003A common task in automated manufacturing processes is to orient parts prior to assembly. We consider sensorless orientation of an asymmetric polyhedral part by a sequence of push actions, and show that is it possible to move any such part from an unknown initial orientation into a known final orientation if these actions are performed by a jaw ...

Wireless and sensorless 3D ultrasound imaging
Neurocomputing, 2016The past decade has witnessed great advances in three-dimensional (3-D) medical ultrasound (US) imaging instrumentation. An increasing demand for portable 3-D US equipment is one of the main trends upcoming in the market. In this study, we developed a low cost, portable, sensorless and wireless 3-D US imaging system.

Toward sensorless manipulation using airflow
IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2004. Proceedings. ICRA '04. 2004, 2004Distributed manipulation systems induce motions on objects through the application of forces at many points of contact. Current forms of distributed manipulation include multiple mobile robots, vibrating plates, actively controlled arrays of air jets, and planar micro and macro-mechanical arrays of actuators.

Direct sensorless speed control of PM-motors-a simple and effective sensorless method
2001 IEEE 32nd Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37230), 2002This paper presents a method for sensorless speed control of nonsalient permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM). Special attention is put on the startup and synchronization of the motor, which are crucial for good performance of the drive system. The method merges both estimation and control of speed into one combined algorithm.

Sensorless predictive control for an induction machine
2016 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation (ICIA), 2016Predictive current control is described for an Induction Machine in this paper. Instead of the cascaded PI control systems, the proposed system directly generates switching vectors by evaluating the designed cost function, which reduces the tuning parameters. An observer is applied for the sensorless system, whcih has the merit of low cost.

A sensorless passivity-based control for PMSM
2018 International Conference on Electronics, Communications and Computers (CONIELECOMP), 2018This paper presents a sensorless controller design to speed tracking problem for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). The technique of passivity requires knowing the load torque, this is estimated with a reduced-order extended state observer, a traditional reduced-order observer and an online algebraic estimator.

Sensorless control of the suspension preload in motorcycles
2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2008This paper describes the sensorless control of a motorcycle suspension preload. The aim of the system is to make the suspension work around its optimal operating point, making the vehicle height independent of the load carried. This improves the safety and comfort of the vehicle.
