Powers and division in the 'mathematical part' of Plato's Theaetetus [PDF]

open access: yesTropos. Journal of Hermeneutics and Philosophical Criticism, Aracne, 2018, X (2), p. 121-140, 2018
In two articles ([Brisson-Ofman1, 2]), we have analyzed the so-called 'mathematical passage' of Plato's Theaetetus, the first dialogue of a trilogy including the Sophist and the Statesman. In the present article, we study an important point in more detail, the 'definition' of 'powers' ('$\delta\upsilon\nu\acute\alpha\mu\epsilon\iota\varsigma$').

Nature, origin and significance of a clayey cave deposit: Relationship between karst and Oligocene/Miocene tephra (NW Dinarides)

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, EarlyView.
A limestone cave in the NW Dinarides exhibits an anomalous presence of montmorillonite clay, not commonly found in surrounding caves, posing questions about its origin and age. Analysis reveals a composition similar to weathered tephra from the Smrekovec Volcanic Complex, suggesting transport by north‐east winds.

Phylogenomics and generic limits of Dypsidinae (Arecaceae), the largest palm radiation in Madagascar

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 71, Issue 6, Page 1170-1195, December 2022., 2022
Abstract With 178 species, palm subtribe Dypsidinae is one of the largest plant radiations on Madagascar. A well‐resolved species‐level phylogeny is required not only to unpick the drivers of this spectacular radiation, but also to define natural and useful generic limits in this taxonomically difficult group.

A zoogeographic model for the evolution of diversity and endemism in Madagascar

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
The delineation of zoogeographic regions is essential for understanding the evolution of biodiversity. Madagascar, characterized by high levels of endemism and habitat diversity, presents unique challenges and opportunities for such studies. Traditional global zoogeographic classifications, largely based on vertebrates, may overlook finer‐scale ...
