Speckle reducing for Sentinel-1 SAR data

2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017
Data provided by synthetic aperture radar (SAR) of Sentinel satellite can be useful for many applications. However, as for any SAR image, speckle noise is present in acquired images. Speckle properties are important for different operations of SAR image processing as filtering, edge detection, segmentation, classification.

Sentinel-1 Constellation Mission Operations Status

IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018
As part of the European Copernicus programme, the Sentinel-1 mission, based on a constellation of two SAR satellites, ensures continuity for C-band SAR observations for Europe. Both satellites have been launched from Kourou on a Soyuz rocket, Sentinel-1A on 3rd April 2014, Sentinel-1B on 25 April 2016.

The European GMES Sentinel-1 Radar Mission

IGARSS 2008 - 2008 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2008
The ESA Sentinels constitute the first series of operational satellites responding to the Earth observation needs of the EU-ESA Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) programme. The GMES space component relies on existing and planned space assets as well as on new complementary developments by ESA.

The Sentinel-1 data processor and operational products

2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012
The Sentinel-1 Instrument Processing Facility (IPF) is the sub-system of the Sentinel-1 Payload Data Ground Segment (PDGS) [ 1] responsible for the generation of the Level-1 and Level-2 products. This paper provides an overview of the Sentinel-1 IPF architecture, processing algorithms and the output products.

Enhanced processing of Sentinel-1 TOPSAR data

2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016
The paper introduces a couple of techniques for the enhanced processing of TOPSAR data. Both techniques are based on repeated passes of the sensor over the same area. The first technique combines two “de-synchronized” acquisitions, useless for interferometric purposes, to obtain an “enhanced resolution” image of the coherent scatterers in the scene ...

Analysis of Sentinel-1 marine applications potential

2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012
Ship detectability modelling has been carried out for Sentinel-1, including development of a ship detectability tool that applies to Sentinel-1, RADARSAT-1, RADARSAT-2, and Envisat ASAR image data. Capabilities and limitations of the tool's predictions are discussed.
