Prospects of Sentinel-1 for land applications
2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012The Sentinel-1 mission is a polar-orbiting satellite constellation for the continuation of C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) applications. Contrary to its predecessor instruments onboard of ENVISAT and RADARSAT, the Sentinel-1 satellites will be operated following a predefined and fixed baseline acquisition scenario.

Assessment of sentinel-1 radiometric stability and quality
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017The main goal of this paper is to assess the radiometric stability of the new Sentinel-1A (S-1A) SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) sensors. The S-1A radiometric stability was assessed by analyzing the temporal variations of the backscattering coefficient (σ°) returned from invariant targets. The results show three stable sub-time series of S-1A data.

Surface Water Detection from Sentinel-1
2021 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS, 2021Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data from Sentinel-1 mission is a valuable all-weather observation for various monitoring applications on the land surface. In particular, SAR observations have unique signatures over surface water which makes them appropriate to develop a global surface water monitoring system. Existing global surface water products rely

Perspectives of Sentinel - 1 for InSAR applications
2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012The forthcoming Sentinel-1 will offer high quality, medium resolution interferograms, immediately ready for applications. The reduced revisit interval will lead to many improvements, simplifying the tasks of the researchers. New solutions for the estimate of the NS component of the motion can be considered.

Speckle reducing for Sentinel-1 SAR data
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017Data provided by synthetic aperture radar (SAR) of Sentinel satellite can be useful for many applications. However, as for any SAR image, speckle noise is present in acquired images. Speckle properties are important for different operations of SAR image processing as filtering, edge detection, segmentation, classification.
