Sentinel-1A and Sentinel-1B CSAR status
SPIE Proceedings, 2011The ESA Sentinels constitute the first series of operational satellites responding to the Earth Observation needs of the EU-ESA Global Monitoring for Environment and Security programme. The GMES space component relies on existing and planned space assets as well as on new complementary developments by ESA.

Analysis of Sentinel-1A FDBAQ after commissioning phase
2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2015This paper concerns the performance of the Flexible Dynamic Block Adaptive Quantizer (FDBAQ), the on-board data compression scheme used by Sentinel-1A (S-1), the C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system for Earth Observation launched on 3rd April 2014.

Sentinel-1A/B SAR and InSAR performance
2018This paper addresses the Copernicus Sentinel-1A/B mission’s SAR and InSAR performance. Sentinel-1 uses preprogrammed SAR mode operations to provide a high revisit frequency and systematic global SAR image coverage. This is mainly based upon the operational use of the novel TOPS (Terrain Observation with Progressive Scans in azimuth) SAR imaging mode.

SEntinel-1A TOPS Interferometry application over the Dead Sea
2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016Comparing with its former C-band fellows ERS and Envisat, Sentinel data is favored for its short revisit days (12 days) and free distribution policy. Moreover, TOPS mode can cover a much larger monitoring area (250 km in azimuth) while maintaining a relative high range/ azimuth resolution (4m*20m in general).

Image Classification Based on Sentinel-1A and Landsat 8 OLI
2021In this study, the Sentinel-1A and Landsat 8 OLI images were taken as the basic data in Qarhan Salt Lake area. Combined with the field survey samples, the maximum likelihood classification method and support vector machine method were used to classify the two kinds of images, and the accuracy of the classification results was evaluated.

Monitoring and Analysis of Surface Subsidence Based on Sentinel-1A
Proceedings of the 2020 International Conference on Aviation Safety and Information Technology, 2020The special collapsible soil in the Loess Plateau region leads to a higher risk of settlement for the airport. Due to the limit of coverage, the method of obtaining data by manual measurement is gradually replaced by remote sensing monitoring. So, European Sentry 1A satellite is used to obtain the airport data, and the airport settlement is analyzed by

Sentinel-1A SAR data for global urban mapping: Preliminary results
2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2015In this paper, Sentinel-1A SAR data were evaluated for urban extent extraction using the KTH-Pavia Urban Extractor. The methodology is based on texture measures and spatial statistics as well as decision level fusion. Sentinel-1A data in Stripmap mode (SM) or Interferometric Wide Swath mode (IW) were acquired in five cities around the world.

Urban Boundary Mapping Using Sentinel-1A SAR Data
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018Mapping urban boundaries is an area of considerable research interest. The ability to monitor growth and change is facilitated by the ease and accuracy of boundary delineation. This research proposes an open-source (data and software) workflow for detecting and delineating the urban-rural boundary.
