Landslide mapping using optical and radar data: a case study from Aminteo, Western Macedonia Greece

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Remote Sensing, 2020
Landslide mapping is one of the most important steps which take place in the early stages of a landslide survey, contributing to the immediate assessment of slide’s effects.

Super-resolving multiresolution images with band-independant geometry of multispectral pixels [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
A new resolution enhancement method is presented for multispectral and multi-resolution images, such as these provided by the Sentinel-2 satellites. Starting from the highest resolution bands, band-dependent information (reflectance) is separated from information that is common to all bands (geometry of scene elements).

Multi-Spectral Multi-Image Super-Resolution of Sentinel-2 with Radiometric Consistency Losses and Its Effect on Building Delineation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
High resolution remote sensing imagery is used in broad range of tasks, including detection and classification of objects. High-resolution imagery is however expensive, while lower resolution imagery is often freely available and can be used by the public for range of social good applications.

Estimating Forest Stock Volume in Hunan Province, China, by Integrating In Situ Plot Data, Sentinel-2 Images, and Linear and Machine Learning Regression Models

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
The forest stock volume (FSV) is one of the key indicators in forestry resource assessments on local, regional, and national scales. To date, scaling up in situ plot-scale measurements across landscapes is still a great challenge in the estimation of ...

Self-Configuring nnU-Nets Detect Clouds in Satellite Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Cloud detection is a pivotal satellite image pre-processing step that can be performed both on the ground and on board a satellite to tag useful images. In the latter case, it can help to reduce the amount of data to downlink by pruning the cloudy areas, or to make a satellite more autonomous through data-driven acquisition re-scheduling of the cloudy ...

Context-Aware Change Detection With Semi-Supervised Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Change detection using earth observation data plays a vital role in quantifying the impact of disasters in affected areas. While data sources like Sentinel-2 provide rich optical information, they are often hindered by cloud cover, limiting their usage in disaster scenarios.
