Sentinel-2 for chl-a monitoring in Belgium

open access: yes, 2023
Lisa Landuyt presented the use of machine learning methods for the retrieval of Chlorofyl-a concentrations in surface waters (use case 8 in GEO.INFORMED) in ...

Eco‐Geography Reverses Dominant AMR Reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae: Integron‐Rich Mobilomes and Cross‐Niche Connectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dominant antimicrobial resistance reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae vary across eco‐geographic settings rather than following a universal pattern. Integrated One Health and global genomic analyses show that lineage structure, integron load, and cross‐niche connectivity shape whether AMR burden accumulates primarily in human or nonhuman compartments ...

Long‐term prognosis is associated with residual disease after neoadjuvant systemic therapy but not with initial nodal status

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This long‐term follow‐up study determined survival rates in a Swedish national cohort of 417 patients with breast cancer who all had neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NAST). Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) was performed before NAST in clinically node‐negative and after NAST in clinically node‐positive patients.

Generalized Analysis of Electrophilic Small Molecules

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Generalized fragmentation patterns stand to unlock the utility of tandem‐mass spectrometry for chemical reaction analysis but are bottlenecked by time consuming method development. Here were show how we can analyze most electrophilic small molecules the same way by their conjugation with a simple MS/MS encoded chemical probe.

Synthetic Data for Sentinel-2 Semantic Segmentation

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Satellite observations provide critical data for a myriad of applications, but automated information extraction from such vast datasets remains challenging. While artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep learning methods, offers promising solutions for land cover classification, it often requires massive amounts of accurate, error-free ...

Improved Direct Ink Writing of Liquid Metal Foams via Liquid Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The ability to pattern liquid metal is useful for making soft electrical and thermal devices. Dispensing liquid metal from a nozzle naturally results in the formation of spheroidal droplets, making direct‐write printing challenging. Liquid metal foams containing pockets of air can extrude as filaments, albeit inconsistently.

High-resolution mapping of forest canopy height using machine learning by coupling ICESat-2 LiDAR with Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observations and Geoinformation, 2020
Forest canopy height is an important indicator of forest carbon storage, productivity, and biodiversity. The present study showed the first attempt to develop a machine-learning workflow to map the spatial pattern of the forest canopy height in a ...

Assessing Combinations of Landsat, Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 Time series for Detecting Bark Beetle Infestations

open access: yesGIScience & Remote Sensing, 2023
Bark beetle infestations are among the most substantial forest disturbance agents worldwide. Moreover, as a consequence of global climate change, they have increased in frequency and in the size and number of affected areas.

Is Precision Agriculture Technology Adoption Persistently Overestimated?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Precision agriculture is sometimes assumed to diffuse steadily over time, and industry planning frequently extrapolates early adoption trends forward. This study evaluates the accuracy of such expectations by comparing agricultural input dealers' forecasts of future service offerings with the actual levels of offerings that dealerships ...

Comparison of multi-source satellite remote sensing observations for monitoring the variations of small lakes: a case study of Dai Lai Lake (Vietnam)

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change
This study compares the capability of Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, and PlanetScope (PS) satellites in monitoring the variations of surface water of Dai Lai Lake, located in North Vietnam, for the 2018–2023 period.
