Irrigation Mapping Using Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 Data
2022 6th International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing (ATSIP), 2022The main objective of this study is to develop an operational approach for mapping irrigated agricultural plots using Sentinel-1 (S1) and Sentinel-2 (S2) data. The application is carried out on two agricultural sites in Europe with two different climatic contexts.

Understanding wheat lodging using multi-temporal Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 data
Crop lodging assessment is essential for evaluating yield damage and informing crop management decisions for sustainable agricultural production. While a few studies have demonstrated the potential of optical and SAR data for crop lodging assessment ...

Sentinel 1 evolution: Sentinel-1C and -1D models
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017The paper provides an overview of the evolution of the Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission, which is part of the Copernicus European Earth Observation program. Following the successful launch and in-orbit Commissioning of Sentinel-1A in 2014 and Sentinel-1B in 2016, ESA is currently developing the Sentinel-1 C and D models.

Sentinel 1: Interferometric applications
2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2009Here we report recent applications that extend the range of feasibility of InSAR: imaging subsurface fluid flow, estimating flow properties such as permeability, and tracking the integrity of water defense structures.

Jointly Exploiting Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 for Urban Mapping
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018This work introduces two feature fusion techniques that exploit previously developed algorithms for urban extent extraction from multispectral and SAR spaceborne data, adapting them to the joint use of Sentinel-l (S1) and Sentinel-2 (S2) data sets. The approaches aim at exploiting the finer spatial and spectral resolution of multispectral S2 data as ...

Sentinel-1 & Sentinel-2 for SOIL Moisture Retrieval at Field Scale
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018Soil moisture content is an essential climate variable that is operationally delivered at low resolution (e.g. 36-9 km) by earth observation missions, such as ESA/SMOS, NASA/SMAP and EUMETSAT/ASCAT. However numerous land applications would benefit from the availability of soil moisture maps at higher resolution.

Sentinel-1 & Sentinel-2 Data for Soil Tillage Change Detection
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018In this paper, an algorithm using Sentinel-1 (S-1) and Sentinel-2 (S-2) data to identify changes of tillage over agricultural fields at approximately similar to 100m resolution is presented. The methodology implements a multiscale temporal change detection on S-1 VH backscatter in order to single out VH changes due to agricultural practices only.
