The D’Alembert Inevitability Theorem

open access: yesMathematics
We study functions satisfying the composition law F(xy)+F(x/y)=P(F(x),F(y)) with a symmetric polynomial combiner P. We prove that symmetry together with a quadratic degree bound on P forces a composition law of d’Alembert type.

On the Restrictiveness of Separability: The Significance of Energy in German Manufacturing [PDF]

open access: yes
Any researcher would certainly agree with Hamermesh’s (1993:34) intuition about separability that the ease of substitution between any two production factors should be unaffected by a third factor that is separable from the others.

Non-separability and substitutability among water pollutants : evidence from India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The design and implementation of environmental policy often involve more than one pollutant, and must consider pollution as a byproduct of the production of marketable output.

NeuroSuite for Long‐Term Functional and Structural Studies of Air‐Liquid Interface Cerebral Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NeuroSuite provides a modular hardware‐software platform integrating Neuroweb and NeuroMaps to enable long‐term, in situ electrophysiological interrogation of air–liquid interface organoid slices while preserving tissue architecture. Its components can be used together or independently to capture real‐time activity, spatial network dynamics, and ...

Maximal $L_{p} $-regularity for a second-order differential equation with unbounded intermediate coefficient

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2019
We consider the following equation \[-y''+r\left(x\right)y'+q\left(x\right)y=f(x), \] where the intermediate coefficient $r$ is not controlled by $q$ and it is can be strong oscillate. We give the conditions of well-posedness in $L_{p} \left(-\infty ,\,

A Note on the Separability Principle in Economies with Single-Peaked [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider the problem of allocating an infinitely divisible commodity among a group of agents with single-peaked preferences. A rule that has played a central role in the analysis of the problem is the so-called uniform rule.

Toward Prostate Cancer Early Warning with a Self‐Powered Wearable Biosensing Platform Integrated with Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current prostate cancer detection methods remain limited in non‐invasiveness and specificity, prompting interest in urinary biomarkers such as sarcosine. Here, we report a urine‐powered wearable platform for non‐invasive sarcosine detection as a proof‐of‐concept for decentralized early warning.

Kernel-based nonlinear beamforming construction using orthogonal forward selection with Fisher ratio class separability measure

open access: yes, 2004
This letter shows that the wireless communication system capacity is greatly enhanced by employing nonlinear beamforming and the optimal Bayesian beamformer outperforms the standard linear beamformer significantly in terms of a reduced bit error rate, at

Pattern Classification for Mixed Feature-Type Symbolic Data Using Supervised Hierarchical Conceptual Clustering

open access: yesStats
This paper describes a region-oriented method of pattern classification based on the Cartesian system model (CSM), a mathematical model that allows manipulating mixed feature-type symbolic data. We use the supervised hierarchical conceptual clustering to
