Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Retrieval of Separated Endodontic Instrument

open access: yesInternational Journal of Innovative Science and Research Technology (IJISRT)
Endodontic instrument fracture is a procedural error that creates a significant barrier to routine root canal therapy. A separated instrument results in insufficient cleaning and shaping of the root canals. Inadequate biomechanical preparation has an impact on the result and outcome of root canal treatment. Therefore, retrieval of separated instruments

Variability of mixed DNA profiles separated on a 3130 and 3500 capillary electrophoresis instrument

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, the variability of peak heights for mixed DNA profiles separated on two different models of a capillary electrophoresis instrument is examined. The Applied Biosystems 3500xl instrument produces larger peaks than the 3130xl instrument.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Retrieval of Overextruded Separated Instrument: An Approach with Ultrasonics

open access: yesJournal of College of Medical Sciences-Nepal
Background Instrument separation is a frequent procedural mishap that occurs with rotary instruments than hand instruments. Separated instrument beyond apical foramen is a major threat as it greatly influences the treatment outcome and leaves ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Comparative Evaluation of the Efficiency in Retrieving Separated Reciprocating Instruments Using Three Different File Retrieval Systems in Maxillary First Molars: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Aim: The aim of this study was to compare and evaluate the retrieval time, efficiency, and loss of dentin volume after separated instrument retrieval using three different file retrieval systems in the middle and apical thirds of the mesio-buccal root of

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Management Of Perforation And Separated Instrument Retrieval In The #36

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Introduction: In this case report, we repaired a perforation in the bottom of the left mandibular first permanent molar under a microscope, followed by the removal of a separated endodontic instrument with ultrasound assistance.

Musical instrument sound source separation

open access: yes, 2009
The structured arrangement of sounds in musical pieces, results in the unique creation of complex acoustic mixtures. The analysis of these mixtures, with the objective of estimating the individual sounds which constitute them, is known as musical instrument sound source separation, and has applications in audio coding, audio restoration, music ...
