Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

A note on homomorphisms of Hilbert algebras

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2002
We give a representation theorem for Hilbert algebras by means of ordered sets and characterize the homomorphisms of Hilbert algebras in terms of applications defined between the sets of all irreducible deductive systems of the associated algebras.

High‐Performance n‐Type Organic Thermoelectrics Enabled by Control Over Microstructure, Orientation and Contact Plane in Naphthalenediimide‐Bithiazole‐Copolymer Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Effective control over the crystalline contact plane and microstructure of a naphthalenediimide‐bithiazole copolymer enables high‐performance n‐type thermoelectrics. While rubbing alignment induces a detrimental edge‐on orientation, subsequent solvent vapor‐induced re‐orientation facilitates a favorable mixed face‐on/edge‐on morphology.

A digital 3D Jordan-Brouwer separation theorem

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica
We introduce a connectedness in the digital space ℤ3 induced by a quaternary relation. Using this connectedness, we prove a digital 3D Jordan-Brouwer separation theorem for boundary surfaces of the digital polyhedra that may be face-to-face tiled with ...

Spin and Charge Control of Topological End States in Chiral Graphene Nanoribbons on a 2D Ferromagnet

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral graphene nanoribbons on a ferromagnetic gadolinium‐gold surface alloy display tunable spin and charge states at their termini. Atomic work function variations and exchange fields enabe transitions between singlet, doublet, and triplet configurations.

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.

The inverse problem for the heat equation with reflection of the argument and with a complex coefficient

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2022
The paper is devoted to finding a solution and restoring the right-hand side of the heat equation with reflection of the argument in the second derivative, with a complex-valued variable coefficient.

Comparative Study of Markov Chain Filtering Schemas for Stabilization of Stochastic Systems under Incomplete Information

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
The object under investigation is a controllable linear stochastic differential system affected by some external statistically uncertain piecewise continuous disturbances.

A separation theorem in dimension 3 [PDF]

open access: yesNagoya Mathematical Journal, 1996
Let M be a compact non-singular real affine algebraic variety and let A, B be open disjoint semialgebraic subsets of M. Define (where —4 denotes the Zariski closure).
