An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Separable Polynomials and Separable Extensions

open access: yesFormalized Mathematics
Summary We continue the formalization of field theory in Mizar [2], [3], [4]. We introduce separability of polynomials and field extensions: a polynomial is separable, if it has no multiple roots in its splitting field; an algebraic extension E of F is separable, if the minimal polynomial of each a ∈ E is separable. We prove among others

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

High Temperature Applicable Separator by Using Polyimide aerogel/polyethylene Double-Layer Composite Membrane for High-Safety Lithium Ion Battery

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
To address the vulnerability of a conventional separator to high temperature, a new double-layer function of separator with a double-layer function is suggested for high-safety lithium-ion batteries that are used in harsh condition.

Separate States

open access: yesJournal of Visual Art Practice, 2023
This piece separates various parts of a series of readymade archival image descriptions and relocates them into new, categorised spaces. With separation and relocation, the narrative of events apparent in the descriptions and in the album of photographs they define is de-emphasised (although the narrative can, in part, be re-built, due to archival ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
