Septal Myectomy in Recurrent Subaortic Membrane

Multiple Septal Coronary‐Cameral Fistulae after Septal Myectomy
Echocardiography, 2015Mini‐AbstractCoronary‐cameral fistulae are rare after septal myectomy. Although most close spontaneously, their recognition is important as they may become clinically relevant if they persist.

Septal Myectomy After Previous Septal Artery Ablation in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy [PDF]
To review our institution's experience with patients who failed to benefit from septal artery ablation, which necessitated subsequent septal myectomy, and to examine reasons for ablation failure and outcome of myectomy after ablation.Of 550 patients who underwent septal myectomy at Mayo Clinic Rochester between January 1, 1999, and December 31, 2006 ...

Surgical Ventricular Septal Myectomy in the Developing World
The American Journal of Cardiology, 2016Surgical septal myectomy is the preferred treatment strategy in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HC) to reverse progressive heart failure symptoms due to left ventricular outflow obstruction. However, open-heart surgery and the ventricular septal myectomy option in particular have limited accessibility in many parts of the world, including developing ...

Outcome of Septal Myectomy in Patients With Fabry's Disease
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2013Fabry's disease has cardiac manifestations that may mimic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, including left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction. It is important to distinguish hypertrophic cardiomyopathy from Fabry's disease, which can be treated with enzyme replacement therapy (ERT).

Intraoperative post-resection assessment of septal myectomy
Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2022Intraoperative assessment of all cardiac structures and their function is critical to the operative planning and post-intervention assessment of septal myectomy and all operations on the left ventricular outflow tract. Using a single case study, I will share my approach to both pre- and post-intervention transesophageal echocardiography assessment and

Combined maze procedure and septal myectomy in a septuagenarian
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1992A 75-year-old woman with refractory paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy underwent a successful combined maze procedure and septal myectomy. Postoperative episodes of atrial fibrillation and flutter occurred only during periods of bradyarrhythmia and did not recur with atrial inhibited pacing.

Outcome of Septal Myectomy in Patients with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy
Scandinavian Cardiovascular Journal, 2000To study the outcome of septal myectomy in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.Septal myectomy in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract (HOCM) is symptomatically effective, and complication rates have been found to be low in large centres performing the procedure routinely ...

Septal myectomy with a carbon dioxide laser for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1993Septal myectomy with a noncontact carbon dioxide laser for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is described. This technique results in improved visualization of the septum as the laser beam is held outside the heart and the resecting laser beam can always be clearly seen.

Alcohol septal ablation after failed surgical myectomy
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2007AbstractWe describe the case of a successful alcohol septal ablation in a patient with persistent gradient and severe symptoms postsurgical myectomy. The alcohol ablation of the thickened septum abolished the left ventricular outflow gradient and the systolic anterior motion (SAM) of the mitral valve.
