A Review of Nonsteroidal Anti‐Inflammatory Drugs for Food‐Producing Animals With a Focus on Potential Applications for Farmed Finfish

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 49, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT In finfish aquaculture, there are several inflammatory diseases impacting productivity and animal welfare, however there are limited options available to veterinarians to treat inflammation and pain in fish. Nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used in terrestrial animals raised for human consumption to treat a range of ...

Serotypic and Genomic Diversity of Vibrio anguillarum in Rainbow Trout Farms in Turkey: Implications for Vibriosis Control and Vaccine Candidate Selection

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 49, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Outbreaks of vibriosis caused by Vibrio anguillarum are a persistent constraint on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) aquaculture. However, information on the population structure of field strains in Turkey has been lacking. Here, we report the first systematic serotypic, proteomic, and genomic characterization of 23 V.

Design, evaluation, and validation of specific primers for accurate detection of VHS virus in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Accurate detection of Piscine novirhabdovirus (PNRV), also know as viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV) in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) is essential for effective aquaculture disease management. This study developed strain‐inclusive primers targeting the conserved glycoprotein (G) gene using integrated bioinformatics approaches ...

Remediation of chronic ammonia effects in common carp by dietary thymol supplementation

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Chronic ammonia toxicity represents a major challenge in intensive aquaculture, often leading to impaired growth and physiological distress. This study evaluated the efficacy of dietary thymol supplementation in mitigating the deleterious effects of chronic ammonia exposure in common carp, Cyprinus carpio. Fish (initial weight: 10.41 ± 0.23 g)

Pediatric Multiorgan Lung Transplantation: Four Decades of National Trends and Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 30, Issue 10, October 2026.
This national retrospective registry‐based cohort study included 56 760 lung transplant recipients in the United States from 1987 to 2024. Pediatric transplant volume and lung‐heart transplantation declined, whereas lung‐liver and lung‐kidney transplantation increased predominantly among adults.

Beyond canonical homeostasis: Dynamic, plastic, and intermittently unregulated physiology as the norm

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 20, October 2026.
Abstract Homeostasis is often taught as steady‐state regulation keeping internal variables within narrow limits—reflecting a mammalian bias. Yet, canonical homeostasis is far from universal. In many animals, including humans, normal physiological states allow some variables to fluctuate cyclically or stochastically while others remain tightly ...
