Development of isogenic lines for resistance to Septoria tritici blotch in wheat
Septoria tritici blotch (STB), caused by the fungus Mycosphaerella graminicola (asexual stage: Septoria tritici), is one of the most economically important diseases of wheat worldwide.

The work outlined herein covers a series of novel herbicidal lead structures that possess a pyrrolidinyl pyrazole carboxamide scaffold as a key structural feature, carrying further substituted benzyl side chains. Based on scaffold hopping approaches from known fungicidal and herbicidal compounds and utilizing an optimized synthetic approach, a broader ...

Winter wheat septoria blotch (Zymoseptoria tritici) (literature review)
In the Southern Federal District, winter wheat is a main food crop. One of the most important factors that can destabilize gross grain yields and reduce grain crop productivity are parasitic organisms.

Skim‐sequencing for genomic selection in wheat: a comparison of marker platforms
Abstract The promise of genomics‐assisted breeding relies on efficient, affordable, and abundant molecular markers. Leveraging modern sequencing technology, commercial laboratory products, and open‐source software, we demonstrate how ultra‐low whole‐genome sequencing coverage (skim‐seq, 0.05–0.10x) can be a viable marker platform. The direct generation

Measurement of infection efficiency of a major wheat pathogen using time-resolved imaging of disease progress [PDF]
Infection efficiency is a key epidemiological parameter that determines the proportion of pathogen spores able to infect and cause lesions once they have landed on a susceptible plant tissue.

Ustilago hordei Delivers Heterologous Fungal Effectors for Screening and Characterisation in Wheat
Ustilago hordei, a barley pathogen, has been engineered to deliver effectors of fungal pathogens in wheat. Necrosis‐inducing activities of Parastagonospora nodorum effectors SnTOX1 and SnTOX3 can effectively be screened for. Challenges occur when stem rust fungus avirulence effectors are tested in this secretion system.
