Chorioamnionitis correlates to preterm delivery prior to 30 weeks of gestation. In most studies, proxies of intrauterine infection (clinical chorioamnionitis, histological chorioamnionitis, intra-amniotic increase in cytokines) are associated with acute neonatal morbidity and mortality and, at least to some degree, with neurological impairments ...

Large epidemiologic studies in a variety of patient populations reveal increased morbidity and mortality that occur months to years after an episode of acute kidney injury (AKI). Even milder forms of AKI have increased associated morbidity and mortality. Residual confounding may account for these findings, but considering the huge number of individuals

International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, 1974
Abstract An interview sample of 120 university students yielded evidence that 15% had some kind of reaction to hypnosis that endured an hour or longer following an individual Form C session subsequent to group hypnosis. If those with short-term reactions lasting from 5 minutes to 1 hour are added, the number with some lingering effect rises to 31 ...

Far too many patients have to “learn to live with” phlebitic sequelae because their thrombophlebitis was not treated adequately during the acute phase. lf edema occurs it must be controlled or it might initiate a chain reaction of recurrent erysipeloid leading ultimately to elephantiasis.

Aesthetic sequelae of septoplasty
Clinical Otolaryngology and Allied Sciences, 1997This prospective study, using standardized pre- and post-operative photographs examined by three independent observers, included 100 septoplasty patients with a minimal follow up of 9 months. A risk of minimal aesthetic changes (21%) could be documented, but significant post-operative changes (1%) were rare.

Joint Injuries and Their Sequelae
Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 1976Despite their unique efficiency and stability, the joints of the hand are frequently injured. Injuries may range from a minor ‘sprain’ to a major disruption of all supporting structures, yet, being closed injuries and usually not detectable by roentgen examination, the actual pathology may be under -or overdiagnosed.
