A probabilistic framework for mismatch and profile string kernels
There has recently been numerous applications of kernel methods in the field of bioinformatics. In particular, the problem of protein homology has served as a benchmark for the performance of many new kernels which operate directly on strings (such as ...

rDNAmine: A New Tool for the Analysis of Long Repetitive Sequences
This work introduces a novel approach for analysing long repetitive genomic sequences, combining a method to isolate large DNA molecules from individual chromosomes. We also describe the bioinformatics tool rDNAmine, which enables the isolation of long‐repeat sequences from reads obtained using the Oxford Nanopore method, as well as their preliminary ...

Post-genomic structural analysis of single amino acid polymorphisms
Inherited genetic variation is critical in defining disease susceptibility. PDs, or pathogenic deviations, are mutations reported to be disease-causing, while SNPs, or single nucleotide polymorphisms, are understood to have a negligible effect on ...

Genetic differentiation and adaptive evolution of buff‐tailed bumblebees in Asia
This study investigates the genetic differentiation and local adaptation of the buff‐tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) across its European and Asian populations. Using whole‐genome resequencing, we identified distinct genetic differences between populations, with Asian B. terrestris representing a unique genetic resource.
